Washing Instructions:
It is important to follow the specific washing instructions for your quality garments. If
warm water is recommended, then do not use cold or hot water. These instructions have been
carefully designed for optimum life.
Dry-cleaning: Quality
clothes deserve a good dry-cleaner. Tailored clothing does not react well to one-hour or
same day cleaning.
Stains: Should a
garment become stained it is important to get it to your dry-cleaner as quickly as possible.
Do not try to remove the stain yourself. If possible tell your dry-cleaner the type of stain
and its age. Some stains such as white wine cannot normally be seen until after dry-cleaning.
Ironing: It not a good
idea to frequently iron a tailored suit as it can make the suit look shiny and worn out. If
you decide to iron a suit or jacket at home, then always use a damp cloth between the iron
and the garment. Do not use a hot iron.
Resting your suit:
It is preferable not to wear your suit every day. Try to rest your suit for at least 24 hours
to allow creases to naturally drop out. It is a good idea to hang your suit in the fresh air,
in a shaded place, to freshen it up after attending a smoky function.
Avoid getting the jacket wet:
A jacket may deteriorate quickly if the interlining is exposed to excessive moisture.
Hanging your jacket properly:
A badly hung garment will sag and may form unsightly creases. The jacket should be
hung on a shaped hanger with plenty of room around it to prevent crushing.
Brushing your clothes:
Use a good natural bristle clothes brush. Removing the dust smartens up the suit as it
prevents abrasive wear. Brushing with a stiff brush is best for worsted or fine suit fabrics.
Woolens and other soft fabrics should be brushed with a softer brush. Always use long sweeping
movements or short flicks, in the same direction.
Be careful using a lint remover on velour or pile fabrics as damage may occur.
