A good pair of gloves is perhaps the second-best cold weather investment you can make after a winter coat.
There's nothing worse than a pair of gloves that just don't fit. Keeping in mind that gloves, especially leather gloves, are something that will take some time to shape to your hand.
Wrap the measuring tape around your palm, just below the knuckles, not including the thumb. Glove size should be measured in inches. Round down to the nearest half-inch or whole number.

Gloves sizes come in half and whole numbers, between 7 and 11½ for men and 6 and 8½ for women. Gloves should be snug at first but will stretch.
